Kasese district like many other districts in Uganda, faces challenges with access to services related on reproductive health, WASH, prevention, management and control communicable and no-communicable diseases regardless of the government efforts. To ensure improved access to sexual reproductive health, WASH, communicable and non-communicable services, focussing at strengthening the capacities of staff and community structures to be able to support in delivering services health services to the communities. In this project, with the support from the German Experteen Services (SES) aimed at training 30 members who included, staff, village health teams, community based facilitators and the youth mentors as trainers of trainees (TOTs) on infectious and non-infectious disease prevention and control specifically malaria, leprosy, diabetes, ulcers, hypertension. Other training was on reproductive health such as STIs, family planning, sex determination and menstrual hygiene. The trained staff together with the TOTs enrolled the trainings at the village level and 956 (612F, 344M) community members where equipped with knowledge and skills on reproductive health, WASH related infections, malaria, leprosy, diabetes, ulcers and hypertension.
